The wife is doing her open water checkout dives Sat and Sunday.
I am going to do my Nitrox dives and checking out our new regs and dive computers.
First time to dive with both. I don't want to know what the temps will be... I prefer to think of it as appreciation for my vacation next month. ;)

If anyone is heading out, stop by and say hi! We are getting there around 11am.
I am bringing a grill and I think a bag of burger patties....

We decided not to camp.
We got three dives in on Saturday.
I only did one today, but now I am Nitrox certified and the wife is Open Water certified.

I think the low was like 48F at about 20ft. Surface temp was in 50s.
Visibility was between 5 and 10 ft.
I think I got a good pic of this one catfish and also some of the wife doing her skills tests.

Great time out there! Glad to be back diving!

Was there today (not diving), talked with Robert, picked up the annual pass, talked with Alan, told me to try latex gloves under the neoprene to help with frosty hands, went and ate bbq, not a bad day but too cold for diving for me.

Congrats to you both, were you the ones with New York on the tailgate?

That would be us! (The ones with the NY Tailgate....)

It wasn't too cold for us Northerners... but it will make us appreciate our vacation a lot more! It was nice to meet ya!

We might be heading out there on the 26th to get a few dives in before the vacation. We will know more later this week.

Rick, I think Alan might mean "Nitril Gloves" and not "latex". Nitril are the type that EMT's use and will add a bit more protection for a small period of time. The Nitril glove trick was passed on to me years ago by Bob3 who posts on this board and others, so I can't take credit for it.

Umm, I've only been down here from northern Jersey for 4 months and dive dry, but the combination of water temps / air temps was just to cold for me. However, I have been diving all winter, as long as it's sunny and air temps top 60° without being windy. Kudo's to you for braving the temps though and no worries, the shrinkage isn't permanent. :coffee:

Franco,

My wife provides the 'blue' thin gloves from her work in the medical field...they may be Nitrile as those come in different colors. Trick is to pick a pair that fit tight, keep them and hands dry prior to putting them on.....then slip on your quality 7mil neo. gloves. Use a new pair for each dive as they are cheap. Really keeps the chill off for an hour+ in 42f waters.

Peace
