CO2 headaches are an interesting diving affliction, in that they tend not to affect new divers (who hyperventilate more), but only start once a diver gains a bit of experience and confidence.

They are no fun at all, but they can be overcome with proper breathing technique.
 
Well I'm back from a shore dive and only have a very small headache, just completing the dive is a big step for me, I concentrated on exhaling more with no skip breathing and I must say I think this might work! Early days yet but I'm liking the results.
