Hawaii - Suggestions anyone...?

Anyways lets talk about some real dive shops than..
Honolulu scuba company has a great store located at the corner of auahi and coral.
They also have a great boat! How come noone ever talks about them? Is there something missing from there?
O YEAH! I forgot they don't come on scubaboard and spam the forums.

DiveOAHU... Man they have great boats... tons of gear... locations...noone wants to add links on scubaboard and put "best company in oahu" signatures on there post?

IslandDivers? How about them.. once again a nice boat! Nice shops! nice location.. coporate look..

Different business models? Different target audiences? The fact that Island Divers does advertise on SB all the time, just with banner ads? Ask them and their divers.

Take it up with a mod, though you seem to have confused the posts of a number of paying, unaffiliated local divers as "spamming." I'm guessing their reaction will be the same as mine: you're a weird one. They might also ban you for the name-calling, but probably not, it's pretty mild if uncalled for.

Didn't I list out some of that (and other pro's) in post #27? Not sure I agree with 'great boats'. Mo'Olio has had it's problems. Ocean Spirit is suppose to be a pretty nice boat, though, especially since they're only running it as a 6 pack right now. Best company in Oahu...not my opinion (I've spent enough time in four of their locations to form an opinion).

I guess we need to go tell all the folks recommending shops in Florida, Cozumel, Bonaire, etc. to stop doing so b/c they're promoting companies without paid ads, too, huh.

And I suppose that I shouldn't mention Shaka Doug, Mike Severns, Extended Horizons, and others on Maui (all shops that I have personally used and been happy with), either, right? Hey, I've even heard good things about Ed Robinson's, but I probably shouldn't mention them either.

Sure glad I'm not going to Oahu this year....might be buried by all the carbohydrates being flung around in this bun fight.

Just certified last year with Deep Ecology up on north shore...typical resort course...didn't know any better at the time.
Nice people and instructors though...

Going with Kona Diving Company this year and Mike Severns on Maui.

I'll see how it goes next month!

I've got no dog in this fight but would just like to point out a few things to you frog.

You're accusing customers of spamming by giving their opinion of a shop that they like and frequent yet at the same time you just endorsed a handful of ops yourself. So are you now guilty of spamming as well?

I fail to see how you being a P.I. has anything to do with you knowing the difference between legitimate online advertising and spamming.
I also fail to see how Kaimana Divers is at fault for the absence of reviews by other Ops or their customer base.

I'm fairly certain that if the Mods had a problem with anyone advertising their business in their signature lines they would have done something about it long ago. As mentioned, if you look around for a second on the board you will find businesses from Thailand, Hawaii, Guam and every other corner of the world in the sig lines of the members here.

I will be relocating to Oahu in the next couple of months and when I do I will be diving with Reef Pirates (did my OW with them a few years ago on vacation) and I will most certainly be diving with Kaimana Divers and a few other Ops who have recieved good praise here. That being said, I will still be forming my own opinion of each shop before I decide which club to dive with on a longer basis.

You should be taking you concerns to the other shops that aren't advertising here instead of getting upset that one good Op actually has customers that they have made an impact on.

If you failed at seeing how kamana divers has anything to do with the reviews posted on this forum than I am guessing you fail quite frequently.
I don't see the owner of Honolulu Scuba company doing this? wheres all his guys?

Island Divers? what happened to you guys? you don't like to do scubaboard anymore?

I guess thats why u never see anyone referring them? I can't understand why since they have nice shops that sell gear, offer transportation, have big boats...
with kamana.. I have now see the way guys..I totally see now why people will choose you guys with a storage locker in that back of marukai that doesn't offer transportation and has the same prices as the big shops!! you guys are awesome thats why...

You will note that the only things removed by the moderator were various insulting variations on the username "scottitheduck". If you'd like to make unflattering factual allegations about Kaimana or Gabe, rather than vague references to conversations you've allegedly had, I'm sure they will remain unmoderated--it's not like this is the SCUBAPRO subforum or something.

Of course, that would open you up to things like being proven to be full of and other repercussions, so I doubt you'll man up and actually do it. Which is too bad, because it would amuse and inform me. I've been aware of some tension between KD and Island Divers since I started diving in Hawaii but haven't cared enough to really ask for particulars and figure out what's what...because IDGAF about dive shop politics and I like diving with at least one person working at each shop.
