We dove the Col. Williams on 5/30, and the vis was slightly better than the pictures from the previous day. This is a very nice wreck. For others who want more info -
The mooring is attached to a crossbar on the central cargo hatch, and is right at 70' it is about 82' to the bottom. The bow points west. It is interesting to tour the outside, because the wooden railing is nice. Unfortunately, the encroachment of zebra mussels seems to be increasing. The windlass on the foredeck is still recognizable, the equipment aft was a mystery to me. I do think the stove was sitting on the bottom where the stern was broken away.
Some of the decking is broken away, but alot is in tack. I could not tell if the rocks in bottom were balast or coal, but I didn't want to mess with them.
All in all a good day with Cap. Gary - who runs a great ship.
