I am planning on renting a beach house on Cayman Brac in June. Several posts last fall speculated that Brac had been so severely damaged by Hurricane Paloma that it would be at least a year before the structures on the island could be rebuilt. However, there are several very nice houses advertised on vrbo.com, a website that brokers vacation rentals for private resort homes. Has anyone been to Brac recently, or is anyone on the forum a Brac resident who could enlighten me? Is it likely these residences have been or will be rebuilt by June?

Still a work in progress. Brac Reef resort is hoping to re-open June 1st.
My daughter works for Brac Reef Divers and the staff have not been called back yet.

Hello all. Thought I might bring everyone up to speed on Cayman Brac. Things are moving along well here. Indepth Watersports is diving and is pumping air at this point and will be doing Nitrox by the end of Feb. The new boat is awesome, we dove Bloody Bay Wall today and made it from the cut in Cayman Brac to Bloody Bay Wall in 20 min. Came back in 3' seas in 30 min and two people fell asleep.. She is going to work well for us.. Her name is Karma by the way. The Reefs and Walls here are excellent and I have seen very little damage to the undersea wonder if any at all. As evil as that storm was, it did not have big seas with it like a normal Cat 5 storm would have had.
DoT has not lifted the tourist ban as of yet but we expect that very shortly.. Alot of people are coming down to help and are staying in private houses.
Indepth Watersports can advise you of any and all rental houses on the island that have currently passed DoT inspection. We are working on three houses right now which will be ready by mid Feb and our place on the north side with 4-2 bed 2 bath on the north west end on sand will be ready all new and shiny by mid to late April.
Cleavland, Is about done with the new 30 room hotel and its looking nice. He expects a open date early in March.
So there you go.. If anyone is thinking about coming down anytime after the first part of March. I think the only thing you will see is alot of new construction.
If anyone has any questions and they want the real answers about what is going on down here please feel free to call our toll free number at 1-866-476-2195,
Best to you all and hope you are all staying warm..

Brac Reef is still working on there place but moving along and the bar is open for drinks and food.. Which is the best on the island right now.
