I've never tried to dive it, but I have family on the lake and visit regularly. There is a TON of boat traffic during the summer, and in my experience a lot of it is tourists with questionable knowledge of boating rules/regulations. The recommendation I've gotten from locals is if you're going to try diving the lake, do it in the off-season when everyone else has gone.

i keep hearing about smith mt lake wandering if anyone has done any diving there

I am looking for an SML dive buddy and during the late September / October time frame there is minimal boat traffic especially in the coves (except for fisherman).

I am interested in search and recovery for light objects in coves around 30-50 feet however the tree lines may be interesting at 30+ feet.

If you are interested please let me know.

Thanks!

im interested if we can hammer out some details. im in Chesapeake so i would have to find a place to stay and a shop for fills.
