I looking to buy a wet suit, my questions is which suit do you guys feel is better between thye Harvey Titanium 4.7mm or the Henderson Gold Core 5mm? Both of these are jumpsuits but the Harvey is about $60.00 cheaper. Is there that big of a difference to justify the extra $$$? Are there any other brands that you guys recomend that are as good or beter?

Thanks everybody,

Heath74,
Welcome to the boards, from NJ!
Regarding the wetsuit question: I have a 3mm henderson "gold core", and I am very pleased with it. The Gold "lining" (?) makes it easier to get on, creates a better seal than the nylon linings, and dries quickly. While my suit is less thick than what you are looking at, I believe the three items I mentioned would still apply.
Since I bought my suit, I have seen other suits advertised with similar linings, for less money. Aquaflight(?) comes to mind.
Regarding the Harveys suit, I have heard that Harveys makes good suits, but have no personal experience with them. As far as the "titanium" goes, if it is contained within the neoprene, and is "sold" as increasing warmth, I have read that that claim is bull....
However, if it refers to a Lining that functions as the "gold core" does, than maybe you should "go with your wallet" in mind.
Of course, above and beyond linings, advice, etc. is :Which fits better??
I would imagine you'll be hearing a variety of replies to this post.
Finally, for more info, I'd suggest doing a "search" of the board's older posts-there are several dealing with wetsuits,to say the least.
Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

Don't want to make things more complicated for you but have you considered gettign a dry suit??? I hate those big, thick wet suits-no matter how "easy" to get on and off they say they are.

www.simplyscuba.com has the Aeruda dry suit for but a pitance(a bit of me ol' English for ya' Govna').

An inexpensive wet suit and a good dry suit will cover every single diving environment there is.

A dry suit is a pricey investment but if you live in a cold weather area it's invaluable.

I have the 5mm Henderson and like it but do not really have anything to compare it to. You could get them for 250 at Leisure Pro, where I paid 350 at the LDS. For size, just get a couple different ones and send back the ones that do not fit.

Mine does leak pretty much along the back zipper, but will agree with the rest here that the goldcore gives a pretty good seal.

I also got the gold vest3mm with 5mm hood and where that when getting chilly.

I have the Henderson Gold Core 7mil 2 pc. farmer john suit and like it. It's plenty warm and seals real well. I've only dived it down to 46 deg F water temp so far and I wasn't cold at all.
