Hi, I have harnesses with stiff webbing and flexible webbing, and I prefer the more flexible webbing. My LDS says they can get webbing, but they can't specify if it will be stiff or flexible. Any places online that I can get flexible webbing, and associated rings, slides, etc.? Thanks.

btw - application is for std hog setup - 2" webbing.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, I really like the blue "H" webbing for flexibility.

I agree that the blue H is nice soft webbing, except that it has all those damn blue H s all over... and besides I like my crotch stiff... err crotch strap

Floppy webbing is useless as a harness. Just not solid or stable enough with the weight of tanks. Also as it sits flat to the plate its a nightmare to get in or out of.
For the record i have a stiff 2" crotch as opposed to a softer narrower one....

String, I must respectfully disagree with you. I use the thin, flexible webbing (I have two kinds; one is the Halcyon, and the other came from my LDS) on all my harnesses. I have no problem supporting LP85 doubles and a 40 cu ft stage, and the harness doesn't cause any problems. I also have no significant problems getting into the flexible webbing harness, compared with when I was using the stiffer webbing.

I know Rick Inman didn't like the Halcyon webbing, because he said the D-rings ended up slipping and being cattywhompus. I haven't had that experience, myself.

I ordered the "soft" webbing from Dive Rite Express as well and have had no problems whatsoever with it. No trouble getting into and out of either on land or in the water.

I have the soft webbing (not Halycon) on one plate and the stiff webbing on the others. The crotch straps are either soft one inch or two inch material. It was my understanding that the crotch strap material should be soft to prevent sawing the wetsuit or chaffing your innner legs without a suit. For wear protection on my shoulders I have soft, thin neoprene sleeves. It is been my thought that the stiffer webbing is easier to deal with, get in and out of and holds the buckles and rings and keepers more securely. The plate that I often dive in just a swimsuit and rash guard is the one I put the soft webbing on thinking it would be more comfortable and maybe it is but the webbing tends to slip and when getting in to it the shoulder straps hang down causing me to have to hunt for them and fish them out.

The Heavyweight Polypropylene webbing from Strapworks.com is softer and comes in many different colors.
