As most of you know the North Hotel zone is a lovely and sedate place-- yet plenty close to the fun of town. However, because of gas burn very few dive shops are willing to pick up divers there. Starting November 1 Aldora Divers changes that.

1. For a surcharge of $5 for each pick up point (not per diver) Aldora boats will pick up at any hotel that has a usable dock. Given that our boats are fast the travel time to the southern most sites will be little different than taxi into town.

2. Pick up at the Villa Aldora is of course no charge and is within easy walking distance to many Northern Hotels. For those that prefer to use the Villa Aldora for pick up, rinse tanks and storage for wetsuits are available. Also anyone who stays in the north will have free use of some very nice bikes for their entire stay-- and make use of the safe and pretty bike lane.

This is just one more way that Aldora Divers can make it easier for divers to enjoy the very best of Cozumel.

Dave, have you heard the paving project for the dirt road to Isla de Pasion has been approved and funded? 95 million pesos. The road will be wide and paved with cement up to the sewer treatment plant, then narrower and paved with "eco cement" the rest of the way to the laguna. Animal crossing bridges and tunnels to be included. The original plan called for street lights, but though the engineers came and did the preliminary work on that part, I think the lights have been put on hold for now. All this is a prelude to the hotel project planed for Isla de Pasion. The architectural firm that did Cozumel's Hotel Presidente in 1968, Sordo Madeleno, has drawn up the plans. Images below:

Dear Ric,

Funky water, tons of mosquitos, and too far for us to go. So in the unlikely event it does come to fruition—we ain't going there.

Dave,
That's good to know...as there was some discussion concerning this when I was diving with Aldora this August. I stayed at a nearby hotel and walked to the Villa everyday, leaving my wetsuit to dry at the Villa overnight. Apparently this was considered a "No No". as the rinse tanks were for Villa guests only.
Glad to hear that point has now been clarified, as I am planning to dive with Aldora once again next Spring.
