Went diving in my drysuit with latex seals Thursday. Not my first dive with latex sals by a long shot.Never had any problems before but during my second dive I felt chafing around my neck. The next morning I looked like Clint in Hang em High. I had a red scabbed ring around the front half of my neck. Is this likely to be a latex sensitivity issue or just excessive rubbing? Any ideas on future prevention? I believe seal is trimmed correctly. Any ideas might help.

Thanks

I had a little of this. I started using KY Lube on my skin prior to donning and it stopped. It also created a better seal. No more occasional small leaks.

Do you shave prior to diving?

Okay, I've seen this a couple of times on this board. Yet from my experience, shaving using cold water is a lot worse then using hot water. Perhaps you could elaborate.

Bill.

Cold keeps the pores closed during the abrasive action of shaving. Hot water opens the pours and you irritate them/actually scrape the skin. I sometimes shave in the shower if in a hurry and I get more razor burn that way. I've noticed that if I shave and head straight to the boat, I tend to get more irritation on the neck.

KY fixed it all.

Come to think of it I did not shave that day until I got home that night. Maybe that could be part of the problem? I will try the KY jelly. I did have some redness and creasing of skin in areas of neckwhere I dont shave but no major inflammation.

Thanks for all the help.
