Curious who did you rent the car with and was there any issues? There are some people saying the car rentals can have rip offs, and there are corrupt cops trying to fine/extort foreigners, and some gas stations have scams (message that credit card payment don't work, want payment in cash. But CC charged)

Be aware that the parks fees for diving in mexico went up in January

We pre booked the car through budget and thought our travel credit cards would cover the insurance. Nope the people at budget won't let you take a vehicle without their insurance unless you pay a huge amount more for the car without insurance. I'd say either rebook the car and buy the insurances online before you go or look at another company. We had no issuse with cops, gas or paying with credit. We also bought oxxo sim cards for roughly $20 and they were good for 15 days of data and calls
Thanks. I'll book online and buy the 3rd party Liability insurance. Good to know you had no issues with cops or others. We're now looking to go to La Paz with rental car, to go sea lion diving/snorkeling.

I dove with the cortez club while we were in la paz, great organization. I think the island is called los islatas where the seals are, it was awesome. My friends rented a car through bobs car rentals and had no surprises for extras when they arrived, on the other hand we got a brand new car( booked a vw suv and got a kia) we were paranoid it was going to get scratched so we always parked far away from everything.

We saw 6 hammerheads off Carman Island in Loreto last September (2024). We didn't see them this year. But as usual, the sea lions are the star of the show in Loreto..... a brief 30 minute boat ride out to the rookery and never any other dive boats around. We had the sea lions all to ourselves the 3 times we went to see them this week.
