Halcyon Inflator Hose Routing Question

I recently purchased a Halcyon Eclipse BP/W setup and have only made a few dives on it. I was wondering what is the proper way to route the Inflator hose. On my setup there is a rubber D-ring (best way to describe it) attached where the left chest metal D-ring is attached. When I bought the rig all setup the inflator hose was routed through that rubber D-ring. I asked the dive shop guy if I should dive with it still routed through that rubber D-ring or just take it out and let freely hang over my shoulder. He said some people use it and some people don't and that they actually just started including that rubber D-ring with their setup. I have tried it both ways. When I dive with it still routed through the D-ring I have trouble from time to time getting the exhaust valve high enough to dump air, but when I dive with it just hanging freely every so often it dangles off to the side and I have to go reaching behind my back and go searching for it. What does everyone else using the Halcyon setup do? Thanks...

The inflator hose should be routed through the rubber d-ring--that way you always know where the inflator hose is, instead of having it dangle around. They also have been shipping with a bungie "d-ring" for a while now in the same spot--so it sounds like they've just recently changed materials.

The reason you're having issues dumping air is due to the way that the BC is designed and how Halcyon wants you to wear it. In this BC (and IMHO, all BCs) you should do your best to always stay in a horizontal position and dump air using the rear dump valve, instead of going vertical to dump through the corrugated hose.

You should be dumping air with the rear pull dump. I route the corrugated hose and LP inflator hose through the large rubber o-ring.

I had the same problem and moved the rubber ring higher on the shoulder strap captured by a second Tri-Glide.

It's up to you.

I recommend you leave the corrugated hose out of the bungee loop, but route the inflator hose from the regulator through it. This keeps it easy to reach and find but also allows you easily raise it to dump air.

Also, note that the wing was designed with DIR-style diving in mind. The diver is expected to be completely prone (horizontal) in the water, leaving the rear dump as the primary dump, since it sits much higher than the inflator dump.
