Unless you have specific need to adjust your harness frequently, such as frequent changes in Exposure suit type or thickness, I'd recommend a "hogarthian" style harness.

The single piece harnesses are more work to set up initially, and can be stuborn to readjust, but properly set up are relatively easy to use, and comfortable.

I'm about to get a bp/w too, I'm asking this here since I think others are interested also:

When would it be better to get the Pro-Fit Harness over the simple Hog?

The Pro-Fit looks like a nice rig. Personally, I might want to take lights and eventually camera gear with me, so the d-rings I like.

Is it the buckles? Do divers who are new to the hog harness initially find it awkward, so the QR buckles help it sell? Is the simple hog really that hard to don/doff? I thought removing your gear underwater was fun, I might want to do it more.

Ultimately I hear "simple Hog harness" a lot.

Would it be better to get a simple hog and add d-rings?

Help, it's about the last bp/w decision I have to make, and spring is here!

Thanks

The Pro-Fit works great. One advantage is that it is quick and easy to adjust, each shoulder strap has "sliders" that allow you to pull down and snug up the rig.

The rings that attach the lower shoulder straps to the uppers also provide a "angle" or in sewing terms a "dart" that allows the straps to conform to the body.

The side squeeze buckles do provide another means of doffing.

The hogarthian harness is cheaper, simpler, lighter weight (travel), is accepted by all tech training agencies.

The Hogarthian can be a bit fussier to set up, harder to adjust after it's taken a "set"

With a bit of practice Donning and doffing in or out of the water is not a big deal.

Which is better? Depends on the diver, and to a certain extent their plans for future education.

What am I wearing 90%+ of the time? A Hogarthian harness.
