I have been at Haigh the past couple weekends and am surprised at the lack of turn out. I was expecting much more people.

I know there are other spots to dive in the area, including this small lake to the N/NE. :)

I almost feel special when I'm out there and there are only a handful of others, unlike July when you have atleast a hundred.

Thoughts? Comments? Anything about life in general?

I think the water temps are still a little low for most people. I was out there two weeks ago and the temps never got above 48. I prefer to dive this early in the year since there won't be any students distroying the viz and I don't have to feel crowded when I'm diving in the shallow area.

Well, I guess I should have re-phrased my initial question. I know a 7mm will give u very limited time, so I guess its a matter of bring dry suit certified, owning or wanting to rent a dry suit and wanting to dive??

As a newly certified drysuit diver, I always thought there were many more dry suit divers out there than what the numbers have shown. I mean, its not like we live in Florida.

I remember doing 1 dive in May last year and I frooze my butt off...didnt start diving Haigh until late june. Here I am diving in March/April already....

The viz is very sweet...20+

I dove in December in the keys with a drysuit so it just isnt here we use them.

some people take diving like anything else around here third week of May which is memorial day weekend. I will be diving this weekend coming up but that is me even dry you still have to deal with chilly surface temps. some people just dont want to deal with them.

I go up to Haigh alot during the summer , but it is still a bit cold for me in my 5-4-3 wet suit. Only thing I got so I need the water temp to be above 50 if at all possible.

With that said I and a buddy are making our annual first dive of the year at Haigh on May 7th, reguardless of water temp!!

Hope to see you up there.

Jeff

A bit early,Give it 3-4 weeks then it hops! Was down last week day! Whole place to us!
Was Great,

Does anyone have the current temp at the quarry? I'm ready for a go this weekend if I can convince my buddy to come.
