I hope the funding includes dredging out West Pass a bit more - its still pretty shallow. 3-4' in most areas at deepest. It doesn't get overhead until you reach the mouth(beachside), and just barely then.

At 3-4' ft it want be to bad but the problem with that is in the past that channel tended to collect sand fast. The smaller dredge they kept on site in the past was unable to keep up with the build up of sand at the mouth on the lagoon side. I sure hope they take this into consideration and purchase a larger power unit.

Their to the point they got to do something a group of Lagoon owners have filled suit on the city over no dock and the pass:eyebrow:
 
Yikes, they had another 'pass' open up further down West Beach, just past the gated community on the end of the beach road, but they kept dredging it shut :p
