What can you tell me about NAUI? Can you go more into the details of the course so to compare it with GUE cave1 and cave2?

NAUI Cave 2 and GUE Cave 2 end at the same point - Stage Cave. The difference between NAUI Cave 1 and GUE Cave 1 is what is technically permitted after class. NAUI allows the student to dive 1/3rds and make 2 navigational decisions (jumps, gaps, Ts). GUE Cave 1 allows student to dive 1/3 of 2/3rd total gas and they may make one navigational decision at a permanent intersection (T or Y intersection) and they can navigate a gap if the line ends because of another OW entrance.

GUE says we trained you to the skill level of going 50 mph, but wants you to do 40 before setting you free with Cave 2; NAUI lets you go the full 50, before setting you free with Cave 2.

The list of skills covered between those two classes would be nearly identical. Actual technique and procedure is where you could get variation and that is instructor (NAUI) or agency (GUE) based.

So basically, in the end of the day, we are back to the original problem: with GUE there is consistency, with other agencies not really - so for a high quality course not with GUE one should spend plenty of time looking for a good instructor.

Do you have an idea if there is any agency that actually teachs different things? Or are all of them teaching the same things?

With most agencies, the instructor is important rather than the agency as they’re all in the same boat.

With GUE, the agency is important and everything else is in order because of the agency.
