There are always a couple of places on Cape Ann that we can go, even if the open water is a little rough.

I would think (I could be wrong), for instance, that we could still dive someplace like Stage Fort Park as a backup plan if people are interested.

Another thought, Rax...if the whether is totally terrible up north as of Sat night...we can come down to R.I. for BBQ/Diving/R.I. day #3.

I want to see the seals, but if we get blown out, I still would like to do some diving...wetsuit season is getting close to over :)

it's a lovely sea-patio. Just a bit of a mechanical problem in the drive. Shouldn't be hard to fix, but will require dry docking, so it's going to wait until the boat gets pulled at the end of the season.

All this talk of back up plans - I am getting really bummed at the possiblilty, however, Cape Ann or RI (for me I prefer RI only because it is closer to me but "have tank - will travel").

Spectre, can we rely on you to contact Captain Rob for the final word?

shellbird once bubbled...

I haven't seen anything coming that could be even close to blown out. Think about this: If we can find someplace sheltered to do a shore dive, he can also find us someplace sheltered to dive... and he has more options than we will....

Since it's the afternoon charter, we probably won't be blown out if the morning isn't blown out... so we'll know with plenty of time in advance to figure out which backup plan to initiate.

trying to predict wind and wave height 3 days ahead of time. The meteorologists can't even do that for god's sake.

Settle down... we'll see.

OK guys, cut out all this talk of "blow-outs"... I want to swim with a seal darn it!

ok switching topic away from the weather...

what all do we need to bring on this trek? i've only done charter boats in the keys and they provided tanks and weights... is this the same or is it BYOT/W?

how 'bout a dive flag (i assume its not needed for the boat, but maybe its good insurance if we have to change plans).

anything else i shoudl know, like "he won't let you on the boat w/o a dive log / compass / barf bag / cash in hand etc."

i gotta rent stuff so i need to know what all i have to rent.

Thanks!

chris
