Just wanted to say Hi to all from beautiful Vancouver BC. Yes the water is cold but it's worth the shrinkage for the amazing variety in dives and wildlife.

I stumbled across this site while looking for reviews on Triple-L BCD's (which BTW helped convince me to purchace the Orion).

Little bit about me. I'm still relativly new to the sport (22 dives) but am currently working toward getting my instructor certification to be followed by lots of dive travel. I just finished rescue and I'm already excited about the possibilities.

Well I've done my first post duties so now it's time to check out the site.

Chris

Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

It is great that you love the sport and want to move up. Just don't lose sight of the reason why you are in the sport. Don't let your ambition over rule your love of the sport. Have fun and dive. If you need anything just ask. Good Luck in your IDC.

Hello Chris! I live on Vancouver Island and am new to diving as well. If you're ever on the island and need a dive buddy, give me a shout.

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

Rescue certified after 22 dives?! Wow! I admire you enthusiasm, but I'm going to suggest taking a break from courses. Enjoy diving for diving, get needed practice, and become a diver - not just a student. If I met a Dive Master on a boat with less than 50 ocean dives, I'd ask them to leave me alone, or an Instructor with little real dive experience - ha! Anyway, it's a fun sport. Enjoy it, build the experience, and you'll be a better professional in time.

Welcome to ScubaBoard!

If you haven't already purchased your BC, check out a backplate and wing setup. You can do a search on the pros and cons of the system here on ScubaBoard. I don't know that there are really any "cons", but just personal preference. Maybe "likes and dislikes" would have been a better way of stating that. If you've already purchased your BC, then you may just want to check it our for you knowledge as a future dive instructor.

Dive safe!

Christian

Whoa nelly...welcome from North Van...but dude...hit the brakes on the courses and just do some diving for a while. Forget ANY thought of doing your DM or Instuctor at this point (or frankly you've been sold a bill of goods from your LDS) 6 dive for OW plus 5 for AOW plus 5 for rescue means 16 dives in courses and 6 dives for fun without a course structure. We've got a great local dive scene. Slow down and just enjoy the water. Again, welcome (and please PM me the name of your LDS...I'm really curious).
