Hello to all. My wife and I became certified back in 1992, and have dived in Palm Beach County, the Florida Keys, Belize, and Bonaire. We have neglected diving for a few years because of other interests, but now are planning a trip to Australia, which will include 3 days on the Great Barrier Reef, so we've been reviewing our training materials and will take a refresher dive course next week.

To cut down on baggage weight, we're going to rent most equipment when in Australia, but we will take our computers and compasses. I discovered ScubaBoard while searching for information on wrist-mounting these items. There are some intriguing discussions of improvised rigs using bungee cord, which I don't fully understand yet, but I'm going to keep reading until I do!

ScubaBoard seems like a very informative site. I'm glad I found it.

Hey Tgire, welcome to SB have a great time diving the GBR.

Welcome to Scubaboard!
Bungee cord is kinda like the underwater version of duct tape.
Hey I wonder what is the underwater version of WD40?

I think I would also want my reg in my carry-on. It sounds like you may have some years on ya'? You might check with DAN about special restrictions for Autralian charters. I've read about some older tourists having problems, not getting to dive because of meds some of us old coots take. If you don't have DAN admin number, look on your card; if you don't have a card - your might want to get one each, as well as Trip Insurance.

Keep posting with us, before, after, maybe even during the adventure...!!
