Hello to all,
As a first time user I am looking forward to chatting and learning from others. I retired from the Army in 2001, 20 years in the Infantry, I currenty work as an Alaska State Trooper in the Bureau of Wildlife Enforcement and I can say that it really is a great challenge in Alaska. I am pretty new to the dive scene, certified in 2002 but I really have grown fond of the sport and the people who do it. I have a love for travel having moved every three to four years since the age of 17 and I really do prefer warm water diving but I manage to get into a dry suit every now and then.

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue:

Glad you found us! This is a great place to spend your SI, but watch out, it's addictive!

Hey Mortarman, do you know Snowbear? She lives in AK. :D

Just kidding, I know that AK is a BIG place.

Enjoy your time here.

I live in Eagle River and I am stationed at Palmer Post

Welcome to you from another former (almost retired) military person. I am jealous as I have always wanted to visit/see Alaska ('cept for diving -- I'm a warm water maven.) I hope you will like it there, it sounds like you have a great job.

I am glad to hear your almost retired, it is a long road but worth it as long as you have plans once you get out. Where are you stationed at?

Greetings mortarman, if you can "space A" thru Jacksonville Fla. down to GTMO there is plenty of great diving here. Nice and warm, great Coral, some wrecks, some walls, aircraft, all kinds of wildlife, Manatee's, cuda, sea turtles, lot's of fun stuff. Nice dive park w/ a 300yrd boat exclusion. Great little dive shop. You may want to check on travel restrictions, might need a sponser, but can't beat the prices......Navy lodge etc. Good luck (18 year 11B40)
