I talked to Plantation Inn Resort Dive Shop in Crystal River today, 352-795-5797http://www.crystalriverdivers.com/tours_rates.html#boat
They are located about 500 yards upstream of Kings Spring
They rent Jon boats for $55 for 4 hours, could probably get 3 people with equipment in each boat. Each boat has a dive flag, anchor and ladder to get in and out of the water. They said they will give us a quick breifing and show us where the springs are. they said we could dive Kings spring and then motor ofer to some of the other springs and snorkle with the manatees.
Just an FYI,
Jeff

Ginnie (High Springs) is 178 miles north of St.Pete on I-75................Crystal River is only about 60 or so up the Veterans Expressway and US19.

I dont know if anyone is planning on cave diving. Im not. I think Crystal River (King Spring) looks like the best bet. Close to Tampa and there are a few different springs to dive.

S-J,

Let me know where the dive is Saturday. I will go. I just got off of the phone with a Dive Master at Ft Lewis Washington, (Washington State) The water temp there is a balmy 43 with vis at it's normal 6 to 10 feet. I guess since I am going to be stuck out there for 3 weeks I might as well try that kind of dive. WHY NOT ????? (me thinks i am losing my marbles to plan a dive in 43 degree waters)

That boat idea sounds like fun! If I was going to be here...not diving in HAWAII:D ....I'd talk you all into getting a pontoon boat and join you!
Have a good time and let me know how it goes...
Stay Warm!
