WE don't get two races.

THEY (Fontukey) gets two races.

Man, I hive up if I gotta go east of the 605. East of I15 and I may as well be on another planet.

NASCAR - you're killing me. Hygene-sided (crest, tide, et al...) many hued rigs turning left is completely lost on me. F1 - I get a little bit of a pulse (shifting, mixing in a right turn, etc...) NASCAR -its just another reason to sit on your car and get plowed, then drive home. The only thing funnier than shirtless 'necks standing on top of RV's in the baking sun watching cars go in a circle is NASCAR on radio. Now THAT is funny.

(Color Commentator) Yup.

Fastest Growing....didn't the WWE/WWF/LMNO recently hold that proud distinction? There was a time when So Cal was relatively immune to this multi-colored crapola. Maybe we weren't, and I just ignored it. Who knows.

Step away from the TV, take off the wife-beater and put on a real T shirt, climb down off the top of the 'bago and go to the beach.

Its So Cal, man...and you're a Malibite. Leave the head-spinning, neck-craining, ear-bleeding, circle-driving, coors light-swilling, to those in states east of I15 and indulge in some So Cal finery - the beach, the mountains, a rock show, the Bowl...whatever.

I want to be less like everyone else, not more.

I just don't get it. People at work are into it (which is funny enough... they became fans within the last couple of years, and have always loved "racing...") Whatever.

This thread became a LOT less interesting when the subject switched from GW's to NASCAR. Living on Catalina we rarely get above 20 mph in our golf carts.

The GW population on SoCal is probably increasing due to the increase in the numbers of California sea lions in our region. Of course they've always been here. How many attacks on divers have been recorded in our area over the last 50 years? And diving is becoming a much more common sport... more people in the water.

The statistics just seem to indicate this should not be a concern (given a diver who takes precautions in choosing dive sites). Of course I don't want to become one.

Yes, the Dr. Bill, Great Whites should take precedence.

So there are these 5 or 5 GW's with stickers all over them, circling a diver the other day (If I'm not mistaken, they were all circling to the left...)

got it.

i bodyboard and i am at the beach several times a month. i recently have taken up diving and really enjoy the perspective from beneath the oceans surface.

i am sure most people are uncoomfortable with the idea of swimming amongst sharks but c'mon, we've chosen sport in his home. so jus respect and hopefully karma is on your side.

may I suggest writing on your dive suit " I am a Lawyer". The shark will think you are one of them and extend their "professional courtesy" to you.

PhotoTJ once bubbled...
Whitey seems pretty smart. He hangs out where the sealions, (his food source) are. I like to think I'm equally smart. I hang out where lobster, scallops, and halibut, (my food sources), are. Where they converge...well, I minimize my chances of mis-identification. My gear has a lot of blue on it, and I'm painting my tank red. Those of you who advocate an all black gear configuration, take note; ever see a red and blue pinniped? I'll bet a Great White hasn't, either! (I thought about trailing a streamer that says, "Not a Sea Lion!" behind me, but that seemed like over kill.)

It's their turf. I just visit a lot.

Maybe it's just my opinion, but not diving in a sea lion rookery/haul out seems like a good idea. I don't want my last photo's published posthumusly!

(Yes, my tank will have a big #8, I'm a NASCAR fan!)
