I can hardly imagine deliberately jumping in the water with it. If it's coming by a boat, it may be used to hand-outs, or attracted by some chumming, depending on the situation. Maybe, maybe not. But if so, it might be hungry.
Perhaps the question could be - how low would the statistical change of the shark attacking you have to be, before you'd deem it an acceptable risk to dive with it? 1/1,000? 1/10,000? What's your number?

I understand most GW "attacks" are cases of mistaken identity. The attacks tend to occur more in low viz conditions and the sharks are reacting more to shapes and electrical impulses than anything else. With that understanding, if there was an ideal place to swim with them, I would imagine it would be somewhere like the keys.

Well, good luck with that.. easy to say while you are sitting in your cube dreaming about be in the water (on company time) programming or more to fact posting on SB.
For some inspiration about being in the water with great whites google "Ocean Ramsey" she is a gal from Hawaii that rides on the back of great whites while making a gopro video. Maybe you could be next?

Okay, let's go with the lightning example. Would you walk out in a flat field during a thunder storm with plenty of lightning, to get a closer look and some photos?
Getting in the ocean at all entails taking some chances. Knowingly getting into the immediate vicinity of a large great white shark, well, that's another kettle of fish...

We swim with the Landlord all the time. I have just never seen the Landlord lurking about. Our dive sites are loaded with seals and sea lions. Every now and again, one will be missing a large chunk of its body if it isn't missing altogether.
Someday I hope to see a Great White underwater passing by...

In fact, we get quite a bit of lightning in FL. Years ago, the sky was lighting up at night, so I told the family lets go look outside. I was holding my 2 year daughter at the time, I got 2 steps outside and KABOOOOOOOOMMMM!!! The flash was instant and the lights went out. I jumped about 2 ft in the air and everyone was running back in the house hahah. We'll never do that again!Now, if I was in the water and saw the GW... Lets say you're 1 min in on your safety stop and see the GW near the boat (imagine the video, but you are at 15ft)... What's your move? I honestly don't know what mine is since I've never been around a shark like that or any shark during my safety stop.
