Frank,

It looks like I'm free on 31 JAN 09 dive, so I can bring you a 100-cf steel tank and weights. This tank has -6lbs buoyancy so that's 6-lbs less weight you have to carry.

Let me know if you still want me to bring tank and some soft weights (I don't have hard weights).

BTW, I've dove on boats that don't include air, food & water in the price and it's a pain in the ass. In the end, you have to pay a lot more on top of that "cheap" fare. Or worst yet, bring your own food cooler and get in the way of other people's gears even more.

Thank you!!
I have some 100cf HP steel tanks that I use here on the east coast, so those are perfect. And I'm still somewhat of an air hog.. so they are even more perfect :D

I'll send a PM to work out the logistics with you.
Thanks!
Frank

The Great Escape cancelled the dive on Saturday. They said it was due to the Super Bowl and low turnout. Anyway HT (fnfalman) and I took the ferry to Casino Point and had 3 great dives. It was a beautiful day both above and below the water.
It was handy having the dive shop/trailer there for tanks/weights/air, etc.
It was a Great Aternative to the Great Escape.

Thanks for a great thread. Good info for my planning.

I'll be coming down in August so my wife can attend a conference. I'm hoping to be able to do some diving in the area and, like you, will not be able to bring weights or cylinders. I'll have a rental car and my gear. But thats all.

glad to hear that you got to dive! I hope it was all you expected. Too bad about the GE canceling for the day, but I am not surprized.

Her conference is at a hotel in San Diego. She doesn't know which one yet. From her memory conference dates are August 11-15. A high school classmate lives there so we will be coming in earlier, or staying later to visit with them. My diving, though, would be any time during the week except that I have to attend the wrap up ball with her the evening of the 15th.

Lots of good diving in San Diego. LaJolla Cove is a great dive. Several boats run out of San Diego too. If you get up to Los Angeles, the Sundiver operates out of Long Beach Alamitos Bay area and provides weights and air, as well as good food.

Plenty of beach dives in Laguna Beach area too and the Laguna Sea Sports dive shop is right there.
