Met up with Thomas (from here) and dove Casino Point yesterday (8/12). It was the clearest I've seen it in my limited experience. It had to be 60 ft viz!! So I took my new DC 800 camera and digital strobe. I'll share a couple photos but be gentle....remember, these are the first underwater photos EVER. I'll learn and get better. :D

Glad to hear the vis is getting better out there.
Unfortunately I won't be getting to check it out anytime soon.

    Cool!

I was thinking about our dives at Casino Pt. today. I want to be able to back and dive there again.

Glad to hear the good viz is holding up. I was able to see the sailboat from the surface when I was there on Saturday (it's a little over 60 feet down if you're not familiar).

Sounds like you had a great time!

You got it.....you know my new schedule. You'll be offering free pointers on photography, right? :)

Let me know when!! I was thinking the other day that I was getting bored with casino point but taking pics makes every dive more fun....regardless of where!!

Glad you had great dives. The vis has been pretty darned good (50-60' range) at least during week days. I've seen it hit near 100' during the late summer. I was out at the Suejac and saw what I thought was a HUGE school of jack mackerel off way in the distance. I swam towards it with my camera rolling and as it came into focus, I realized it was a school of about 500 barracuda! My guess is that they were doing the "wild thing." Great vis.

I never tire of diving Casino Point and when the vis is good, it is a fabulous place to just relax and take in natures undersea wonderment.
