We had a great dive off Puerto Aventuras Mx yesterday, Phyllis, Kyle and I. I took pictures and "Killer" Kyle bagged 17 Lionfish.
Canyons is one off my favorite dives
Job well done! An old friend of mine just ran a lionfish derby from his boat last Saturday down in FL. The group bagged 99 lionfish! He volunteered his time and boat thru REEF.
While this will never eliminate this invasive species it is working and is a great help. While diving in Cozumel last summer every dive master carried a small sling and killed every lionfish we encountered.....a grand total of three in 17 dives. All three were 5" or smaller. I talked to the divemasters and this is a marked change from the past when they would see many of them and some very large ones. Great to see the diving community pitching in!
