We pretty well only go to each dive destination once, so yes, I am trying to make the "perfect" choice. (We're deterimed to go everywhere once!)

To go/not go during hurricane season (the offers sure are tempting...) aside, I think you will be happy wherever you decide to stay--LCBR, Paradise, etc. We checked out most of the places, and I didn't hear anyone complaining... 2-3 dives a day, happy hour, and dinner usually followed by diver midnight (~8:30 pm) bedtime seemed to be the norm, regardless of the resort!

LCBR and Paradise both have decent Wifi if that is important to you, and the LCBR has a small spa-- I got a massage and was very happy with it. No ATM on the island, so if you want to use cash bring it with. The little market is decently stocked but be prepared to pay dearly. Also, bring bug spray--the mosquitos were very bad, even when the sun was still up.

Have fun!!

If I were you Rick, I'd stay at the LCBR. Everything is right there and it's just more convenient when it comes to eating and diving. The food is just too good to pass up in my opinion and the diving set-up is great as well. I think with the three dives a day package, you'll get in all the diving you'll want.

There are also expanding the deck area around the pool. It looks like it will be very nice when they finish that. Probably finished by now because we were there about a month ago.

I just don't see how you'd be disappointed with any aspect of the LCBR.

Diver Rick,

I have been to Paradise Villas nine times, so I second everything Velour has said about them. I think that everyone who has been to LC has a favorite resort. I like quiet, close to the water views, superb hosts, and cooking my own dinner every other day. So PV fits me. I have friends that are Southern Cross addicts. My brother has been quite happy with LCBR. I'm sure you will enjoy yourself.

Another vote for Little Cayman Beach Resort. Forget the condo options. Limited food items avaiable for purchase at the "store" adn the gormet meals are hard to beat a LCBR. Nice dive op. Thsi is my fav Cayman adventure. However, other stuff to consider: if vacationing with those who do not dive, the brac or little cayman will likely be boring.

never dove the north side only the south side but was impressed with the reef structure and enopugh fish to keep me photo happy. vis was good, played with dolphins, easy to get to, good value. No big fish because like most of the Caribbean it is fished out.......

Little Cayman has slightly better diving than The Brac. Never dove Grand Cayman because if I'm going to travel that far I'm going another 90 miles to great diving.

Been to The Brac four times and Little Cayman two times. Probably headed to The Brac this fall to take advantage of good deals.

I couldn't agree more!

I recommend Southern Cross or Pirate's Point (more expensive, better food). The other 2 are McCoys, kinda run down and just not that great, Little Cayman Beach Resort, more expensive, food not great, staff kinda nazi-like, well many of them anyway. My opinion, YMMV.

And btw, some of our best dives at Little Cayman were SHORE DIVES, contrary to at least one post above. There is a huge concrete deck that's all broken up, but some of the best shallow shore diving I've ever done. We did it as a night dive and had to literally dodge the nudi-branches, they were EVERYWHERE! Of course it's a long swim out to Bloody Bay wall, but it's like that on all of the Cayman Islands. But for amazing 30-50FT. shore diving, you won't find a better place! Just ask the divemasters or anyone that lives there. Since there is almost nothnig to do there BUT dive, the locals all know the best spots. We never had any shortage of shore dive sites, the only problem was transport! Getting there on bicycles with tanks and all was a bit of work. But it's not all that hard to hitch a ride either! I think it took us all of about 5 minutes for the first car to come along, it was a truck, and he not only drove us to the shore dive, he offered to pick us up after! We ended up getting a ride back to Southern Cross in about 10 minutes with someone else. Half the people there must have trucks! But they are all very friendly and we never had a problem getting to or from any of the amazing shore dives.

One other thing, most of the resorts there offer multi-tank packages, so you can usually dive your limits without even leaving the resort. We just wanted a day to explore so we rented a couple tanks, hitched a ride, and off we went! We could have stayed right at the resort and went out for more boat dives if we wanted to that day.

Great post! Love people who get off the beaten path when they are off the beaten path!

I'm not sure what a good deal is. I looked at the price for Southern Cross or Pirate's Point and they were both about 2Kpp. Am I missing something?

I find LCBR to offer the best package for our group. So far we have managed to stay under 2K/pp.

Just returned Saturday, June 19th, from another great trip to LCBR that included 17 dives and 3 fantastic meals a day. Can't wait for the next trip to roll around - June 18th - 25th, 2011
