Thank you, everyone for the input. In the past we have spent a few days on Grand and then flew over to the Brac to finish off the trip. Talk about the different vibes. WOW!! I dove east once and between the divemaster who was not in a good way that morning and the collection of much younger divers it wasn't the best experience. OF is great, please do not get me wrong here, but once in a while even the best have bad days.

Are you planning to visit Brac again this trip? Have you ever stayed on Little Cayman? I love all 3 Cayman islands! :)

No Brac this trip Kathy. We sold our condo there about 5 years ago and have moved around a bit. I love the Brac over Grand. Love the overall vibe of the island. This trip is all about diving in am, beach, snorkeling and basketball the rest of the time. My wife loves Seven Mile Beach so she gets to hang out with a good book or two while I'm diving. We have never stayed on Little. We always had too much fun on the Brac.

Kathy, how is brac late Jan weather wise? I know to avoid Dec.

I have never been in Cayman in January, only in the Spring and Fall but a woman that had spent 4 weeks in Cayman in January to early Feb (2 weeks on GC and 2 weeks on Brac) posted in the TripAdvisor forum that they had high winds and crummy visibility when snorkeling during much of their trip.

I don't know if this was a particularly bad year, but perhaps @mi000ke or @Testudo or others can provide more information about the typical January weather in Cayman. I know that winds out of the North are common in winter.

This year seemed a bit worse than the past couple of years for the first two weeks of January, then it was generally fine. Mostly wind and chop. I didn't dive those first two weeks, but after than no problem. Some of my pals did dive those weeks so it was possible. Usually there is some place around the island you can dive. If the north is bad, the west is usually OK, and if the west is bad, the south sound area is usually OK. One day in January I tried to dive east end, and it was too windy/choppy so we ended up coming around to the south to dive. On the other hand, the north seemed unusually calm this past winter from mid January on, and we were able to dive there a lot, so you never know. You should be able to get into the water someplace on most days.

Thanks for the info re Brac in Jan. We may save Brac for a June trip and hit Bon or Cur in Jan.
