Drew Sailbum:
...

If the Brac & LC fared as well, then I'd say that we dodged the worst of it.

There was an unconfirmed report briefly up on CaymanNetNews that the Brac "lost three wooden docks on the Southside"...its been pulled down, so that probably means that the report was (hopefully) innacurate...

...either that, or Grand Cayman's ignoring the Sister Islands, as usual.

Newsday Trinidad & Tobago is reporting:

"There were reports of flooding and downed trees that made some roads impassable in parts of Little Cayman, population 150, and a brief power outage in Grand Cayman’s East End. More than 300 people sought shelter on all three islands in the territory — 247 in Cayman Brac, 35 in Little Cayman and 29 people in Grand Cayman, authorities said."

...which doesn't sound too bad. On the Brac, this probably means that there will still be standing water on the road to the Dive Hotels where it bends around Captain's Table at Brac Caribbean. They did install a "storm drain" in Westerly Ponds a couple of years ago, so road flooding down by BRBR should have also drained away.

:dazzler1: Anyone actually been diving or visited Little Cayman or Cayman Brac since Charley went through? If so, how were those islands affected topside and diving-wise? Those are our favorite dive destinations. Thanks for any info.

I friend of mine lives and works on LC. Diving has been back to normal for awhile. The only flooding was the road at the west end. She had to walk to work on the beach for two days. The booby pond is full now as are their cisterns, so the rain was very welcome and needed. Now, what Hurricane Ivan is going to do is another matter.

Just back from GC - no effect from Charley. All they had were some brisk winds and rain. The dive operator said they only missed one day of diving due to it. Ivan may be quite a bit worse.
