Headhunter:What is the Wrinkles Dive?
This is a monthly gathering of all divers and non-divers in SoCal who can make it. It's a lot of fun involving diving, eating, socializing and sometimes even camping!
It all started when our SoCal member, Wrinkles, mentioned to a group that she dove with that it would be really fun to be able to get together at least once a month. Pasley, took off with the idea and announced the first "Wrinkles Dive". The rest is history!
It's open to everyone of all skill levels from "I'm not certified yet" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"
We've found this to be a great way to meet our fellow divers locally and many new dive buddies have been found though these "dive soirees".
2007 Schedule for monthly Wrinkles Beach Dives
I'm a new member but yes, they are an actual club but loosely run. No minutes, no newsletter, dues are inexpensive and you get a free t-shirt or cap with the dues. We meet at a local dive shop and we get two free air fills per meeting (which MORE than covers the dues, WAY more). Membership gives you access to members' e-mail addresses so you can contact the group to see who wants to dive. Again, I'm a fairly new member but they do have picnics and trips now and again and sometimes they do boat diving. They have an annual Kayak for Cancer where they raise funds for the American Cancer Society. They are eager to help new members learn how to kayak dive correctly and they are just plain NICE FOLKS!
I hope that answered your question.
