The primary use we use for the Artificial LORAN unit is surveying the freighter lanes. The signals are perfectly (or were perfectly) aligned with the shipping lanes all the way up to Alpena before they turned NW. Now we have finally ditched the Artificial LORAN for good much to Dave's displeasure. I'm not defending LORAN I was just saying it's uses and what it used to do. We keep it around for backup, but we don't use it on a regular bases any longer.
