I'm sorry but I'm dying laughing here :rofl3: Very sweet of you Ken. My 1st OW training dive at casino point I found a GoPro. I promptly dropped it off at the dive trailer, didn't want the ocean gods mad at me. But as someone else pointed out in another thread, maybe the gods were happy with me and gifting me with it! I hope you find the owner.

OWNER FOUND!!!
Bad news for all of the grifters here, but we've found the owner. Now I will tell you the whole story . . .

As many of you know, I volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. They were out yesterday on a collecting trip (I wasn't with them) diving oil rig Eureka when they found the GoPro at 60 feet. It had a yellow floaty handle on it and was lodged under one of the beams. So they brought it back. It was a Hero5 with a red filter attached to the handle and it didn't look like it had been down very long. Eventually this afternoon they had time to pull the card and look at the footage. Luckily, the owner had taken a picture of a plane ticket with her name on it. The gal at the Aquarium who actually found the camera was able to track her down and contact her. Turns out she's from Arizona and lost it on a dive nine days ago. So they're now arranging to get it back to her.

And now (paying homage to Paul Harvey), you know the rest of the story.

P.S. - Thanks to those who playfully claimed ownership throughout the day on this thread. It's been a fun and amusing distraction for me. Plus we're glad we were able to track down the real owner. Too often things like this get lost - let alone at a spot in the middle of the ocean let alone 700 feet deep - and are never seen again.

Glad you found the owner. Mine actually have a label maker labels on them with my name, phone, and my good email on it. There is always a picture of me on the memory card, I don't know how to turn one on without doing that.

So far the only gopro I lost, I came back with. Lost due to flooding with salt water. Electrical engineer friend looked at it and said "cool, you can see the arcing across the traces on the circuit board". But I did find one, I watched it fall. I knew whos it was, the dive was over and we were heading to the anchor when it fell. So I just pocketed it. I was planning on having a (mock) auction on the boat for it but was too busy and just gave it back without the fun and games.

Be sure to load a little extra footage of a quick tour of the aquarium or something like that before sending it back. Put a little easter egg on it for the owner.

Brilliant, everybody. This was a good one.
