Here's a Google Earth mystery, and a shipwreck:

The mystery: What is under the water at 42 08'57".08N and 87 45'15.00"W?

A shipwreck can be seen under the water at 41 41'57.97"N and 87 30'38.21"W. Go to elevation 600 and you'll see it.

Google Earth is so addictive....

Wreck at: 41 41'57.97"N and 87 30'38.21"W has two labels in Google Earth.

1. Labeled "another shipwreck" and includes this post link: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Number/199760

2. George F. Williams .

: Sunk on April 21, 1915 it took until 1998 for divers to locate this wreck. Beware of boating traffic (especially jet skis).

I too am learning "google earth". Cool program. Did you pay subscription fee? I'm still using free version.

How do you add placemarks for entire Google Earth community to view?

The more populated areas of the world are shown in more detail. I can clearly see my boat in its dock in Waukegan. If I zoom in on my house I can see the pool and the tool shed in the back yard and cars parked on the street. Quite impressive!

It really is an impressive program. I can see my lawn chair in my back yard and though my truck was there my car wasn't. Where was I?

Too bad the images are so old but maybe they update them every few years. Can you imagine if this technology ever went to LIVE views?
