So...I'm here in Cebu with my family (wife and kids ages 14 and 17). We are currently Open Water divers and are looking for a nice resort to settle into for the next week or so while we complete our Advanced Open Water training.

Typhoons have been rolling through, so I'm not sure where the best place would be. I've considered Dive Link on Coron Island, but am concerned about the security there.

So far, we have dived Malapascua, Moalaboal, Boracay and Mactan. But many of the really nice dive spots are beyond our cert level, so we need some training.

Any sugestions for a nice resort (preferably with a decent beach and pool) with good accomodations and a reputable training program? I think someplace on Cebu, Bohol or Negros would be most convenient.

Thanks!

Yup, figured that would be a good option after my research today. At this point, we planning to stay at Polaris for several days.

Thanks for the help!

We've had a change of plan and now are going to Davao. My cousins there do a lot of diving and will show us thier favorite spots. Looks like we will be doing 2 days of boat dives and a day diving around General Santos.

Any good suggestions around these areas would be welcome.

As it turns out, we did meet Paul Partridge and went diving with him in General Santos. One of my cousins in Davao is a friend of his. Here's a shot of Paul with some clownfish.

Malapascua, would love to hear a trip report about your Gen San portion. I'm considering this as well for early Sept.

edit: Malapascua, love the little vid clips you have on your twango site, especially the "we came all this way..." one! RFLOL... I'm also from Seattle, so it cracks me up whenever I'm traveling around the region, find myself in some remote town, and find a STARBUCKS!!! :rofl2:

yes, pls report on Gen San cause that's on my list when I get back there. :)

Mactan has many places that you can dive within your training. Plus many ritzy resorts you can stay at. But a bit too commercialized for me. Bohol is a nice option.
