3mm shorty? Also, what is the dive with the grouper? Last time we went they had just left for mating. Thanks.

Water temps last week were 84. As for the grouper dive, there are a couple of dive sites with very friendly grouper and I think it is the Meadows. For another absolutely great dive try Lea Lea's Lookout.

carriemak,
Hope you had a great trip. Looks like you had terrific weather.

Carnell,
Friendly Nassau groupers hang out on Donna"s Delight, Mixing Bowl, Dots, Great Wall West, and Mike's Mount. Occasionally, these friendly Nassau's venture to adjoining sites. If weather is good enough to do the north (BBMP)side, as it usually is in summer, you will almost certainly do a site with friendly groupers.

Personally every dive trip we wear some covering and almost always a 3mm, even in 86 water. It protects you from any nasties that are in the water column plus any scrapes with firecoral or firesponge. I'll admit there have been times when I've worn a 1mm body suit, but the water was 90 off New Britain (Papua New Guinea). If you are diving multiple dives, you will cool your body core down even in 86 water.
If you are diving just one dive a day or a couple times in a week I guess you could get by with no wet suit but why would you chance a sting or two?

We're heading back to LCBR on 8/15 and were there around the same time last year. I generally wear 3mm full for the same reason (and did last year) - avoiding the minor annoyance of stings. My daughter wears a shorty and sometimes just her bathing suit, but inevitably deals with a few stings over a week of diving. Last month I wore a shorty in the cenotes of Mexico (72 to 74F), but my 3 full on the one day out on the reef (84F). Now if only I could have avoided the 40 or so mosquitos that got to me before hitting the water at the cenotes! :D
