I've thought about OF as an option but the convenience factor is drawing me to Tortuga. I know OF takes care of your gear and such but we're not the type of divers that would actually want someone tending to our gear. :crafty: We'll definitely check out Sunset House for a drink or two. As for rental car, I did look at the link. I have a deal that will allow me to rent at Avis for about $85 less than Andy's.

Second that on the gas. It's by the IG... currently about CI$5.51 per Imperial Gallon (about US$5.74 per US gallon).

A rental car simply is a MUST if you are staying on East End. Not much of anything within walking distance and taxis are extremely expensive.

Only two dive ops, Tortuga Divers or Ocean Frontiers, out on East End. Both cover the same areas. Tortuga is a part of Red Sail Sports with shops on the west side of the island for Stingray or Kittiwake dives.

Regulations limit the amount of time a boat can tie up to the Kittiwake moorings. This effectively limits boats to a one tank dive.

Hey Dennis, any etiquette tips for the bar at Sunset House? I am staying at Sunset House 11/27-12/4.
You didn't ask me, but keep your pants on and tip the wait staff. (the first one is optional)

Looks like you are getting lots of good info.
We live in GC from Dec - Apr/May, down on Seven Mile Beach.
While you are staying on East End, since you have a car, you can drive up to Rum Point area; we like to eat at Kaibo's.
When you are in the SMB area, great place to eat is Sunshine Suites Grill; use to be the best kept secret but everyone knows now. Off-peak times are the best - it's across from the Westin, behind Eats/Legendz bar.
Diving will be great. I dove the Kittiwake - I think it is just one dive.
Be sure to go to Stingray City sandbar - it's the best.
Enjoy!
Jane

I recommend Fidel Murphy's for a pint and a full Irish breakfast. It's near 7 mile beach

I can't say enough about OF. If you want to have some great dives with competant staff and perfect locations they are ones to stick with.

If you ask I am sure they can pick you up and drop you off back to your resort.
They can also provide tanks with DIN valves as well, all you have to do is ask.

We stay at the Sea Lodges at Cayman Kai (Rum Point) and drive to OF on dive
days. When we arrive things are very organized and ready to go.
Introductions and gear checks and your off. In most cases my tanks are filled to
3200-3300 PSI with EAN x32. How can you go wrong?

They respect that you are with them to dive, and to me, that is what it is about.

I agree with Jack Ryan, OF caters to serious divers, whereas Tortuga is more of a cattle boat operation. Is you are staying at East End, Fosters and Dive Tech are irrelevant as they are at the opposite end of the island.

The Kittiwake is still a pretty fresh wreck, is in shallow water and is only worth one dive, not two, in my opinion. Further, it's at the north end of SMB and is a long way from East End. You might want to consider for a PM dive and spend the morning on the wall somewhere instead. If you can get to Babylon, do it. Great dive site.
