RJP, I have to agree with ReefDiva. I also believe Susan refers to it as a "tool" as well. I have to ask, have you ever written a book, pamphlet, of that size? The amount of work that Susan has put into BSDME over the last 3 years is immeasurable. Site entries, creatures, etc., change with time, waves, etc., and she takes the time to map out each site, what to expect, best entry/exit points based on current conditions.

It is also not a "B&W Microsoft word document," The cover is color, and it is printed by a publishing company.

Just my 2 pennies worth, but then again, I'm partial to Bonaire, and BSDME:), and Susan:)

Bonaire is all about shore diving!!! I wouldn't do more than one or two boat dives over to Klein. I also found Shore Diving Made Easy a valuble tool. We had the dives picked out that we wanted to do 3 months before we left.

Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread...

I'm not doubting the amount of work that went into the "book" (which is what the author calls it on the website) and I'm sure I'll find it relatively useful. I just had higher expectations based on all of the rave reviews.

PS - yes, the cover of the "book" is a lovely color photo of a pickup truck :D

The contents of the "book" deserve the rave reviews. We found it a very useful guide and plan on using it again on our next trip in Dec. Personally, I'm glad it's small in size (makes it much easier to pack). :)

Just to add another couple opinions... My spouse and I dove there 4 years ago and did a couple boat dives at Klein B. The diving was great, but no better off the boat than from the shore on Bonaire. We are returning in a few months and have no plans to spend the extra $$$ for boat dives. There are simply too many great dives from the shore of the big island. So for us we will dive and dive until we have dove every shore dive on Bonaire before spending the money to boat dive. Enjoy!! .....Oh "Alice in Wonderland" is a great dive.

One more comparison. Shore diving: you see something cool you stop and observe for as long as you want. Boat diving: you see something cool and the DM keeps swimming away. Remember, what's cool to you may not be cool to others.

I won't spend the time and money to do any more boat diving there.

I think that it depends on who you use for your boat dives. I've only done one in my four trips but it was a great drift dive with no dive master done off of klein. Very laid back and would use them again if I choose to boat dive. But agree that with shore diving this convenient you need a really compelling reason.

If you have not done it Larry's Wild Side is one of those things you put in your log book as a been there done that!

I agree with Jetwrench's post!

Shore diving the wild side, now that's something for the log book!

(pm me if you want a good map for shorediving Lac Cai) :eyebrow:
