I dive a sleeve ring and then wear wool gloves and a industrial rubber glove pulled over the ring to create a water tight seal. The ring system is pretty much a one time cost and then there are minimal costs after that, depending on how hard you are on rubber gloves. Rubber gloves run about $5-10 and last a year or two. Rings run you about $100 installed est.

If you think about it, you usually buy 2 pairs of normal dive gloves each dive season which runs you about $35 a pair, so $70 a season. Of course, depending on how much you dive. A ring system costs you $100 one time fee and then gloves run about $5-10 a year. Two dive season and you essentially have the whole thing paid for and you will be 100 times happier then having wet cold pruny purple hands.

Thanks all for the good advice.
Madmole the latex gloves sounds a good idea as i have boxes of them lying around my business i shall give them a try next time i'm in the water.

Where are you getting your rubber outer gloves? We have been using latex outer gloves from Amron Intl for a few years now, but they lost their supplier. They now have a super heavy duty electrician's rubber glove that we don't like. They are similar to the Viking latex outer glove. I'm looking for a new supplier for outer gloves for our dive team.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

I don't know if you are using 5 or 3 finger gloves, but I also dive in 5 degree Celsius water and I've never found a pair of 5 finger gloves that keep my hands from going numb. The pain after you surface and take them off is nice too. I now dive only with a cheap pair of 7mm 3-finger gloves from a thrift shop. I think they're from the 70's, but I never have problems with them. They work just as well with a wetsuit or drysuit. I don't know if you are a lover of high priced gadgets. If so, you might want to ignore my idea.
