I had an interesting discussion in the reception today!

We were comparing the days diving stories and on of the guy guests here looked at me like an idiot when I mentioned how pampered I felt that the dive boat I went out on, had a bathroom. Not only ANY bathroom... It had a nice clean bathroom!!

So I realized, that I always prefer to have a real bathroom during the surface intervals. Maybe it is just a "girl thing" but I can´t just announce that I want to go to the bathroom, grunt, then jump into the water and have a conversation with everyone on the boat while... while... going!!!

As a diver, fine, I admit, if I really need to go, I´ll go! BUT, HEY, if there is a nice clean bathroom on board, I really really appreciate it!

Ok, strange conversation to be having...

So, what do you girls think?

achu

Just call it a "head" instead of a bathroom and most of the strange looks go away. Guys like to hear the proper terms for places, especially on boats and "head" is the proper term for a bathroom.

Have to get Walter to help me out on the rest of the terms :confused:

Galley = kitchen
Porthole = window

Deck ? = floor
but what are walls, doors and stairs?

Ber :bunny:

P.S. How obvious is it that I usually dive in quarries?! :confused:

Walter,
What are you doing in the Women's section again? Tsk Tsk! And in the Women's Bathroom, no less. :)

Well, Achu,
If the question is, do I want a nice 'head', the answer is YES! But I don't expect it. Very few of the boats I have been on, have one. Well, I take that back. About half I've been on, have had a head.
I try to 'empty my bladder out' as much as possible before a dive or two, (Ber, how's that for correct term) so I don't have to worry about a head. I NEVER have been able to pee in the ocean.
:sunny:

No, I never expect to have a "head" on the dive boats. In fact, most dive boats out here are little 6 pak boats. That is why I was so tickled that the boat I went out on had a "bathroom" :) But the guys couldn´t understand what the difference is between jumping in the water and using a real bathroom...I mean, heck! you can have a conversation while peeing if you jump in the ocean, whereas you can´t if you go to the head! Sigh... must be a guy thing.

But I´m like you natasha.... like I said, if I really really have to go... the whole ocean is out there... but it isn´t something I am use to.

Natasha, you'd be disappointed if I didn't show up in the women's section from time to time.

Ber Rabbit,

wall = bulkhead
door = hatch
stairs = ladder

achu, most heads are much more sensitive than the typical bathroom and the operation varies from boat to boat. As for wanting a head vs using the ocean, that depends on water temp. In warm water, it doesn't matter. In cold water, I want a head.

But if you were to monitor a Guy's bathroom, it's a very quiet place. Guy's aren't as chatty when doing their "bizness" as the ladies might be.

Thanks for the terms Walter!

If we didn't know you were WWW we do now! Since I'm a "wet" FCD it doesn't matter if I have a head when the water is warm but if it's cold I don't want to waste all that nice warm liquid on the head!

Natasha, I prefer to call it "heating my wetsuit" =-)

Ber :bunny:

Ber Rabbit,

I've done it, but I don't like it, so I stopped years ago. I call it fouling my wet suit. A disgusting, yet almost universal, habit.

DSSW,

Ok, OK - I've done it too...but as I only own a shorty (presently)as opposed to a full suit - once your 'done' - just lift the thigh opening and let the cold water rush in and 'flush' everything out. Sure - it's chilly for a few seconds - but better than retaining all that unwanted 'fluid' in your suit.
