Hey All- Thanks to all of you for the replies. Looking at both websites, it seemed that Ginnie was the better spot. I just wanted to be sure they just didn't have a better web site designer

aihfl-Depth means nothing more to me than the space you need to pass through to get where you wanna be. I'd be happy if the entire ocean was only 20 feet deep. Think how much more good diving there would be!!!

Ben- did we just miss you, or are you still in Gainesville? We can still squeeze that lunch in somewhere if you're around.

Wendy- Sorry you have to work that day. If you're free to dive anytime Tuesday, let me know. We're doing a 6AM to 9AM Manatee snorkel in The Homasassa River, and have not planned anything for that afternoon or evening yet. BTW- love your new caving avatar!

Boy, I dunno, nothing like being a second thought...

I'm still be here then, won't be leaving town til May. I can do lunch anyday but Tues or Thurs, you buying? :colgate:

Ben

You weren't a second thought

I was going to PM you, but you answered my post before I got a chance. Jen and I are nothing if not spontaneous. We just put this trip together about three days ago. We're getting "cabin fever" from this neverending winter!

I'll buy if you can do a little driving. We're going to be down in Venice Wednesday morning for a two tank dive. We can meet you afterwards in Ocala if you'd like. Well be there in the late afternoon. Let me know and I'll PM you the detail and my cell # when I get all the times figured out.

I agree with the above. They're both $25.00 for entry (as of November, when I last dived them. (You can stay in Gainesville, which is between them.)

Blue Grotto isn't quite as boring as the guys said, but you can easily see everything on two tanks. Ginnie has more variety, by far.

I usually take my two non-diving children to Ginnie, where they snorkel above my wife and me, using a river tube as a base. The dive sites at the Devil's Cave system are at the upstream portion of the tubing run, which makes a nice end to those dives, just floating along in an inner tube for 45 minutes or so, scuba units in tow...

If you guys are still looking for a dive buddy, let me know as the time gets closer. It might be nice to just slide away from work for an afternoon and into the water.

Here are a few nice Springs web sites.

And here's a handy link to all of the Florida area weather bouys, to help you decide.

Thanks for the further confirmation Toolbox. Are you going to be up doing some Wreck Valley dives with us this spring???

GrierHPharm- Far be it from me to encourage someone to play hooky from work, but...... c'mon up if you can :D We've already booked almost everything, and will definitely be there all day Thursday (4/8). Jen and I are always up for meeting new divers.

Thanks for the NOAA link also. I checked out the buoy near Venice, where we're going out diving on Wednesday. Looks like the temps will be 70 or higher just about everywhere we're diving. That's about as warm as the water gets here in August!!!!

Hey,
I have been to both of the sites and enjoyed ginnie springs better. It has several dives including Ginnie Springs, Devils Ear, Little Devil, and Devils Eye. All of these sites were interesting.
