Noob question-

I'm trying to combine two layers and one is larger than the other. When I merge them I get the checkerboard pattern from the smaller as part of my image. Does anyone know how to avoid this?

Thanks,

Tim

The checkerboard pattern usually indicates transparency. Have you looked at the layers tab and maybe changed the order or opacity around?

Thanks...changing the layer order before the merge got rid of the pattern. For some reason. I have a ways to go with gimp!

No problem.

Depending on what platform you're using you may want to consider GIMPshop...as the name implies, it's GIMP changed around to have a more Photoshop-like interface. GIMP is amazing but the interface has its moments....
