Greatings from the Beach

Hello Divers,
I'm sure You have noticed that we haven't had a new dive report recently.
Quite frankly, there has not been much to talk about. The Sea God has not
been granting us good seas as we have been blown out for over a month.
The Cat-N-Around did get out the weekend or Oct 13th and 14th with a group
from Southern SkinDivers out of B-ham. They got down on the Navy Tug, Rome
and the Old Dry Dock with vis in the 30 - 40 foot range.

We also put a few divers on the H2o Below about a week and a half ago with
Capt. Doug and they reported vis in the 70' range. We have since got a Oriskany
report (after all these rain storms) that the first 20' of water has a murk layer
then it clears to 70' of vis.

It looks like a good time to make a road trip to the Springs. Gary and Blake were
at Vortex and Morrison's on Oct. 10 & 11 doing some cave training and reported
Vortex to be clearing up nicely from their algae problem and Morrison to be
awesome with unlimited vis. This may change due to the rain but should clear
again soon.

We have been trying to get the Orange Beach Open Spearfishing Tournament in
since Sept. 14th with no luck due to the seas. We hope to get it in the 27 & 28th.

It's not been all bad news around here. The National Shrimp Festival was a GREAT
success and a fun time was had by all.

The crowds have thinned out, prices have dropped and the water is still warm so
Nov. is a good time to get a few more dives in before the year end.

See You at the Beach Soon.

Keep Diving!!
Linda.

Mrs Linda
Have you heard any reports on how the new rubble is doing? Details such as how large of an area and structure height? And any Marine life yet. I don’t get much chance to dive over here in our area much lately

This is not Linda but we were diving it quite often before we started getting blowed out.
It is a awsom dive, a huge area with as much as I'd say maybe 20' relief.
it's about 12nm SSE of Perdido Pass in 75fsw

We are calling it Ivan's Reef (former I-10 west)

Sounds as though it makes for a great dive. Do you think it will draw in some bugs? With what I’m picturing in my head it should make for a great home for them. You mentioned it was in 75fsw. That must be site two right? Site 3 they released it to be in 89fsw and site 4 was in 90fsw. Have you checked these out also? I have the numbers on them if you need them your more than welcome to them.

Talk about being blown out I got some film I got to get developed and scanned of some spearfishing. Me and a paired up buddy dropped on some rubble and the viz was just about as far as the end of your gun. Needless to say real quick I found a large stone to put my back too
