class was this past weekend, all but one person completed the course. But scuba isn't for everyone. Everyone was extremely happy with the course and looking forward to diving in the near future. That one person has the option of completing the dives in the future though if she wants.
Regardless of what some of you want to think Diving is not rocket-surgery nor is it an eliite group of people, I know 2 people who never took the course and after a few dives where better than people who took open and advanced padi. It's very people dependant on who can get it faster.
Back in the day I took the 3 day (24 hour) course, and still thought it was drown out a little took much. Most of diving is common sense.
In the north I can see a little more time being spend learning though, because most of the nive in the north east and west coast are dive dive , low vis, and strong current. But down here in Miami vis is 100' or more, almost no current, and most dives are fairly shallow. The class teaches and goes over EVERYTHING that an extended class teaches, you just need to be able to absorb all the information. If your not as sharp anymore than it's not for you. I have to admit that of all the times I've done this class I've only had one person over 40-50 years old, and he washed out. This class is not for everyone.
