Georgia Straight Report, and Plankton?
Last Labor Day Saturday, six O.D.A. divers crewed the Clearwater out to the Georgia Straight wreck just outside Angels Gate for the 3rd week in a row. Excellent conditions prevailed this time, and we took about 10 Gunny sacks full of nets, lines, and debris off this beautiful iron reef. An excellent haul, with many thanks to volunteer divers Phil Garner, Greg Cooke, Jeff Conner, Al Laubenstein, and Steve Smith, and a special thanks to Capt. Jim Lieber (Kurts brother)
Temps were in the low to mid 60*s at 85’fsw and a workable 20’ feet’o’vizz before the cutting starts, with a balmy 70*+ degrees on the last deco stops, Ahhhh! We’re hoping to head out again this weekend. Sorry no cameras or pics, just knives and bags, we did free an entagled dungeness crab, it was a VERY satisfying day! ;~)
Thought I saw a plankton bloom in the Port, and definitely saw a couple nearshore on Monday in South PV. Anyone else?

Kudos. Saw the algal bloom in Long Beach... didn't get a chance to sample it. Might have been duckweed instead.
