I'm going to Bonaire at the end of December and was wondering if anyone has had problems with the new airport security??

Also -- what do you do to protect your light for the trip? I was thinking of carrying it on. (I had a stealthdive light so its not too huge)

The battery looks like... Err.. Definitely bomb-like.

Just curious...

Matt

that you can take carry on packages to the nearest FAA office and have them inspect it prior to your trip and that they would stamp it ok and package it. You may want to just call and ask.

GB's super duper Big Brother computer just picked up that you said GB' and Bomb in the same thread. You may want to look out your window to see if there are any Black Cadilacs with heavily tented windows sitting down the street from your house.

If so, get your light cannister and run down the street towards them screaming "Allahu Akhbar."

My wife and I traveled to Bonaire and security was a pain in the a$$ but all my stuff made it. I packed my NR4000 in its case inside my suitcase and used clothes to cushion it. From Boise to Bonaire we had no problems. On the way back the Bonaire inspectors will look at everything before you get on and they will obviously know its a light. Remove the battery from your light so it can't accidentally be turned on (the airlines only worry). You will have less problems checking the light than if you go through a security checkpoint with it as carryon.
If your head is a HID you may want to take it and place it in carryon since they are very, very tender.

So you mean W dosen't want to take his cannister light? I'm sure glad we cleared up this nonsense.

I wouldn't be suprised to see them storming my house any minute... And then have me declared an "enemy combatant" and locked away forever, incommunicado, without trial!

Hmmm... But I think the light will probably survive. I guess I'll probably cary the lighthead on with me (it is an HID) and put the battery in with the rest of my luggage.
