I knew a guy who did an adapted version of this back in the 1980s, but much deeper. His local garage use to 'bank' air to fill tyres, and through some kind of adaptor he will fill his tank with banked air (not full, but enough to get wet).
Of course, the air is completely unfiltered, and the intake was from the air around a busy petrol station. It smelled bad, but was probably far worse. I can only imagine the risks associated with breathing those toxins under pressure.
