Just use bungee cord to make yourself a retaining loop. Works just as well and you don’t have to undo webbing to get it on!
I've considered doing that. I cut the velcro strap off my DSMB and replaced it with bungee, and it works pretty well.
 

Is this what you're looking for? They're useful when using small diameter lights. Otherwise, it'll be difficult to insert the light head.
I'm using an Orcatorch D550 as my primary, so that would work well.
 
That's what I've been using so far, but I find that it's too loose for my setup - the ties keep sliding up and down the light and it doesn't do a great job of actually retaining.
Mine are twisted round twice.
