Hello again everyone,

What is your procedure for cleaning off your gear post-dive? I usually just lay it all out on a tarp and spray everything down with a hose, however I'd like to hear some suggestions that don't waste so much water. I've read some older posts about this very topic and some people have suggested submerging your gear in a large tub filled with water. Any other suggestions??

We put all our gear in a HUGE tote, and fill it water and with Sink the Stink. Then we follow it up with a fresh water dunk 'n rinse in a second big tote. Works great!

Well, it's pretty much either hose it off or soak it in a tub.

You're environmental conscience, however, is appreciated greatly!

Alright, I figured as much. Thanks for the info.

I guess you could do a dive in freshwater to wash off...

Sometimes a freshwater dive can be yuckier than a saltwater dive!!!

Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww ! ! !

Depends, for fresh water diving I generally just rinse off any heavy dirt but otherwise don't bother - except for the mask which always get a good clean to get rid of the globs of mucus :11:

After pool use or salt water dives everything gets a turn under the shower and the wing gets drained, part-filled with tap water, sloshed around and drained again.

If the water is particularly saturated with organic matter, I soak my gear in a tub of warm water and shampoo then give it a couple of good rinses with fresh water.

We have a hand held shower head in one of the bathrooms. I've fashioned a bar that runs the length of the tub so that I can rinse the gear with the shower and let it drain down into the tub.

I like to submerge my gear in Lake Michigan for about 30 minutes. Allow to drain and then repeat as needed. :D
