Is there a way you can make your on gaters? Trying to keep cost down. Scott

Try some Duct Tape. If you put a wrap of cloth on your suit first (maybe an old sock with the foot cut off) You won't get your suit messed up with the glue.
Remember, only BLACK duct tape should be used if you want to remain DIR.

I put 2 wraps of masking tape around my socks, just on the ankle right above the foot. Keeps the sox from migrating towards the toe during those long dives.
Haven't been able to find it in black yet though.

I bought a set of Halcyon gaiters at the local DIR shop and then they called them training wheels... embarassed I returned them for a refund so they could sell them to someone else.

Now I use velcro straps on the ankles of my attached boots on the Andy's DS3... black straps... unless I forget them...

How did you attach the straps UP? Are the permanently attached? Or just wraps?

Did you do it or have it done? Have a pic?? :)

The gators that I have.... look to be easily made, certainly not worth the $$ they go for. Training wheels..... lol.. :D

Just some multi-purpose velcro wraps that a friend gave me a long time ago.

The are fuzzy material about 18"x1.75" with hook material sewn on one end and a plastic loop on the other.

We use them for lots of stuff and one day I took a couple and cinched it around my ankles... the worked good... but are not attached.

I don't know where you could get any as I have never seen them in the store in this size... but you could make some.

I needed to solve a floaty feet problem and was looking at the Halcyons, but they were much too expensive. I went in to the local hiking shop and picked up a pair of hiking gaiters that were velcro based for less than half the cost of the Halcyons. I've been using them for a few months now and love them.

Plus they look good and protect my knees a little more as well.

Don't you know? The only DIR approved training wheels are Halcyon. :D

Protect your knees??? Oh... sure... of course... now I understand.

OMS makes a pair of gators that cost half of the Halcyon.

I wish I would have known this before I put down the $75.00 for the Halcyons.

Whatever, I use them, and like them. My gaters are getting scratched up rather than my drysuit. To each his own...=-)
