I think that was just to view secondary screens like the compass. But it does look like no matter how much you tap it will never show surfgfI don't know. I'm not the one that was talking about needing to tap the screen during a dive to see other stuff.

I would say maybe in an update but garmin seems to leave those kind of updates for a new version.
They have made huge leaps on accelerometers and gyros over the last few years. I havent noticed any decline in my mk1. Mine is still sensitive enough that if I have another dive computer next to it, that it will occasionally switch screens when deploying my smb.I have found with other devices that use taps and shakes for U/I that they tend to fail to work as expected over time. I suspect due to accelerometer calibration drift.
Im glad they finally gave custom fields. Direction is much more useful than temp.I can confirm that you can add a heading to the main data layout. I subbed it in for Temp. Not sure about about heading hints - I would have to fiddle more. Kinda like what was described wrt Teric.
